About

Tom was raised in Mathare. For him, it’s not a “place to visit” — it’s home. He met Giulio when Giulio was supporting projects with SlumRise, and their conversations quickly turned into a shared idea: create a tour that is respectful, local-led, and built around dignity. That idea became Afrondani — a way to share real stories while supporting long-term development.

Mission
We aim to build a sustainable economic activity that creates jobs and income for people living in Mathare. At the same time, we offer visitors the chance to discover a side of Nairobi rarely seen — through local stories and visits to project sites— in a way that is respectful, safe, and centered on dignity.

Vision
We envision a Mathare where progress is driven not only by aid, but by opportunities. We believe sustainable economic activities — built with and for the community — are the strongest engine for lasting development: creating jobs and giving people the means to shape their own future.
